The Greymouth Jockey Club’s annual statement of receipts*., ajid,.expen-" cliture for the year endingf - June 30 last states that the showed a slight improvenS^i||| r last year and the committee hjph's that this year it would be much better, as the expenditure would’ be considerably less. The trotting events introduced had proved successful, and the committee have included two such events on the programme for New Year’s Day. The farm account was satisfactory v At present the Club has 50 head of cattle and 100 sheep on the property. Government taxes paid by the club during the year ended June 30 totalled £3778 6s, but a refund of £250 was made and £172 5s was recovered from owners, leaving an actual amount paid of £2356 Is 4d This was made up as follows: —Dividend tax, £1595 13s 3d ; total isator,--£986- 9s 3d ; stakes, £172 os; amusement tax, .£133 18s lOd. /
Receipts by the club—for -the year ending June' 30 totalled £7864 5s 2d and expenditure totalled £7513’16s Bd. Assets are estimated at £5388 and liabilities at £3475. The balance at the beginning of the year was £1561 14s 3d, and the year’s, operations ■ resulted in it being increased to £1912 12s 6d. The annual meeting will be held on October 4.

AUCKLAND, September 23
The' Avondale Jockey Club 7 Spring Meeting concluded to-day in fine weather. There was a large attendance and fine racing, was witnessed on a fast track. The tote receipts ifor tlie day were £30,806, compared‘‘with £28,472 for the corresponding day ’of' last year. The tote receipts for the‘meeting were £86,603 as against last year, a total increase of £31,211£. Results:
Grey Lynn Hurdle Race.—(l) Zircon 1, (10) Rahepoto 2, 1 (4) Glenotus 3. Won by four lengths • three-quarters of a length. Time 3.44 3-5. Waltzer, Red Comet, Glena Bay and Birkenella all fell.
Nursery Handicap.—(3) Royal Ruler 1, (2) Orapai 2, (8) Lacly, Court 3. Won by three-quartersi •'of f a i length ; two lengths. Time 1.2. 1-5. Mount Albert Handicap.—(2) Prince Val 1, (1) Refresher Bombardier 3. Won by a long head; threequarters of a length. Time 1.15 2-5.
