SOLICITOR STRUCK OFF ROLL

WELLINGTON, September 24

Only seven cases have so far been set down for the Appeal Court session which began to-day and one of those was disposed of this morning.

The bench, consisting otf Chief Justice Myers, Justices C. J. Herdman, Adams, MacGregor, and Ostler, made an order striking John Black Batchelor, solicitor, formerly practising at Christchurch, off the rolls. Mr Free, for the New Zealand Law Society, said this was not a case where the discretion of the court was. needed. Batchelor was convicted on a plea of guilty of two charges of theft, involving £1286 and was sentenced to two years’ reformative detention. The order was accordingly made with costs 15 guineas.
