CHRISTCHURCH, September 23. , A fire wah discovered in the vestry of St Mary’s Anglican Church, Addington, this evening. - Fortunately th'6 outbreak was noticed early, and the Brigade were summoned promptly. They made ..an excellent save. Tlie church‘ is about sixty years old, built of wood, with a shingle roof.- If; the fire had ‘ gained strength there would have been little hope for the churchj which is one of the oldest in Canterbury. The damage was confined to the vestry,, and should not exceed: £l5O. ihe origin off the fire is unknown. Incendiarism is suspected.
