CYCLE RACING.
SOUTH ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS: (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 21. Fifty-eight riders started in the 36mile South Island road cycling championship to-day, conducted by the Southbridge Athletic Club. The roads were good, but there was a strong easterly wind. The results were: H. W. Bennett (lomin.) 1, C. Bearman (lOt min) 2, L. R.. Poulson (12 min.) 3. Fastest time: J. W. Jordan, 1 hour 38 min. 21 seconds.
OPPERMAN WINS ACAIN. ADELAIDE, Sept. 22. The cycle road race from; Adelaide to Kapunda and return, a distance of 132 miles, was won by H. Opnerman, of Victoria. The time was 7 hour® ‘2O minutes. Thirty-three started. H. R. Mason was runner-up.
