HAY BEATS TROWERN. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Sent. 22. Artie Hay, N.Z. welter champion, secured a .point decision against Reg Trowern at Stratford last night, in a ten rounds fight, that went the full distance. Trowern made most of the fighting, but Hay was the better boxer. STRATFORD, Sept, 23. The fight provided a good contest. Trowern made the fighting from the start to finish, never letting up in aggressive tactics throughout. He scored w'ith his straight left landing solid blows. The champion was not too happy on the journey- hut always was a bit ahead on points, scoring at in-fighting. In the seventh of ten rounds, Hay got busy, sparring for a knock-out, but Trowern was too wide-awake. In round eight Hay delivered two great blows designed for a knock-out but both missed.
