The German steamer Hochst bound from Colombo to Europe is aground oil Mini ay Island an dis reported to be badiy disabled. The tug Hercules gave an attempt to refloat the merchantman.' Minicay is over four hundred miles from Colombo and is a storm-swept spot in the path of the approaching north-east monsoon. . THE VESSEL’S PLIGHT. (Received this day at 9.25 a.m.) COLOMBO, September 22. A wireless message, late in the evening states the Hercules is expected to reach the disabled. Hochst at ten tomorrow morning. A message from the Hochst says the •forepeak is flooded. The vessel is gradually' getting out of control owing to heavy seas. , They were compelled to throw cargo overboard. Another German steamer is expected to reach Minicay. Island and will stand by till the arrival of the Hercules. It is thought the vessel grounded when passing through a narrow channel between two reefs in heavy seas and a thick mist.
