N.Z. OVERSEA TRADE
IMPORTS INCREASE. (By TelegYaph—Per Tress Association.) , WELLINGTON Sept. 19. Following are the New Zealand overseas trade figures for the month of August, 1929, with the corresponding figures for the month of August, 1928: Exports from N.Z.: 1929, £2,580,800; 1928. £2,005,201. imports: 1929, £4,275,000; 1928, £4,0i1,/77. For tlie eight months ending August, 1929, the figures are: Exports £43,072.236 and for the similar period of 1928, .the figures were £43,0/6,394. The import figures for 1929 are £31,272,095, and for the similar period of 1928 the figures were £28,893,753. NEW ZEALAND’S TRADE. (Received this day at 10 a.m.) NEW YORK, September 19. Speaking before the Pacific Foreign Trade Council at Seattle, Julian Foster (United States Trade Commissioner for New Zealand) said that New Zealand had the greatest per capital wealth of any country. jjpHe added that the Dominion bought ninety per cent of its automobiles from United States because they were better hill climbers that European machines.
