ERECTION OF ELEVATORS. United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received this day at 12.25. p.m.) OTTAWA, Sept. 19. Mr J. H. Thomas will submit a proposal to the British Government for the erection of extensive elevators at certain British ports for the storage of wheat. Government officials see great possibilities for Canada and Australia, if the proposal is accepted. It includes cold storage and dry storage. The immediate object would be to relieve unemployment.
u.a ACTION. WASHINGTON, Sept. 19. The Navy Department to-day revealed that its recent order decommissioning the destroyers of the battle and scouting fleets' would extend to fifty-three ships.
