EMPIRE PREFERENCES. (United Press Association -By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). LONDON, September 19. It is learned a majority of the Cabinet favours moderating Empire preferences. A minority wants complete free trade. EXPELLED FROM MEMBERSHIP. (Received thi° dnv at 1A LONDON, September 20. The British section of the League Against Imperialism expelled from membership its chairman, the Commoner, Air James Maxton, who is also chairman of the Independent Labour Partv, on the ground of neglect to fight the Labour Government’s policy in Egypt, also for his support of the Government’s measures to crush the Arab revolt in Palestine.
Mr Maxton replied that he does not intend to he bullied. Dissention in the British Communist Partv was revealed by the demand of a number of branches for the removal df Harry Pollitt.
