EUROPEAN STORMS
DAMAGE IN FRANCE. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). LONDON, Sept. 18. There has been iremarkably warm late summer weather over the greater part of Europe. It lias culminated in a scries of terrific thunderstorms, in which three persons were killed by lightning in England. Great damage has been done throughout France, .particularly in Brittany, where three' famous holiday resorts, St. Malo, Dinard, and Dinan have been unprecedenGy flooded. For the past two days raging tropical storms have torn up their streets, and rendered the roads impassable, flooding many of the houses. Stretches of railway in Brittany lirne been washed away, and a train passing St. Brieux ws buried by a landslide. There are 120 persons homeless in St. Malo. Three people were washed down the River Ranee at Dinan, their bodies being recovered miles below.. Two deaths are due to lightning. There is a heavy sea in the Mediterranean, and many wine barrels have been washed to sea from the riverside stores.
