COAL AFIRE

(Received this day at 9.25. a.m.) . ALBANY; Sept. 19.
The Irish steamer Knockfierria en route to Melbourne from Inimigiham, is making for Albany with a fire in the coal in No. 1 hold.
A’ wireless message from the ship stated that the coal was very hot and was giving off a heavy quantity of gas continuously. There was no immediate danger however and the fire was being kept under control. ‘
