PARLIAMENT
THE COUNCIL. WELL IN G TON, September 19. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 to-day. Hon. Thomson moved that the Government bo asked to take into consideration the desirability of Establishing a censorship of talkies with the object of preserving 1 the purity of the English spoken language and at the same time consider ‘ the. question of checking, as far as possible, the presence cif unattended children, at cinema entertainments. The motion was amended by the mover, urging the Government to make an increase in the percentage of the quota in favour of British films, and in that form was carried unanimously; The Council rose at 2.30 until Tuesday next. .
THE HOUSE. The House of Representatives spent the afternoon discussing departmental reports. The Licensing Amendment Bill (Mr Mason) was read a second time pro forma and referred to the Industries and Commerce. Committee. ’ The, Marriage Amendment Bill (Mr M.asonE was , put . through! the Ena) stages and passed. , The Workers’ Compensation .Amendment Bill was read a second time and referred to the Labour Bills Committee. The House rose at 10.30 p.m.
