Berniquet, was found dead, in bed from the effects of poison. By: her. side was a letter in which she claimed that her husband had treated her cruelly and had poisoned her coffee. M. Berniquet, who was arrested, protested that he was innocent. Police inquiry showed that Mms. Berniquet who had previously been tfirice married, was extremely jealous and had frequently threatened 'suicide as sjie believed her husband had been unfaithful. ' . The poison ,it wps found, .had b een bought by her, and medical evidence showed that it had been taken when her husband was at work. Mine. Berniquet, the police now hold committed suicide and accused her husband in revenge for imaginary grievances. M. Berniquet has been released on bail pending the final decision of the magistrates to ■ dismiss the, charges against him. "•
