RIP VAN WINKLE

At the Princess Theatre on Thursday of next week the local theatregoing public will have another opportunity of witnessing the delightful comic opera “Rip Van Winkle” so successfully produced by the Hokitika amateurs under the direction of Mrs W. Staveley. The occasion is a benefit for the Hokitika Fire Brigade, a most deserving institution. Apart from the merits of the entertainment itself, the occasion deserves a bumper house—and tnat sec-ms assured, judging by the booking which commenced today. The opera will be produced in full detail. All the principals will be seen again to the best advantage, including the splendid lead given by Mr and Mrs Arnold Perry. Excellent support will he forthcoming from Misses Duff, Morgan and Wylie, and Messrs Ooulson, Brooks, Bui pin and Wright, so that another special treat will be provided. . ... . _
