The Roman Catholic Emancipation Centenary was celebrated at the Albert Hall, London. -It was declared that the Creator had bestowed upon men their instincts and passions to Be used according to reason for the perpetuation of life. Some, however, desired to substitute self-gratification for selfcontrol. The birth-control advocates really condoned every form of selfindulgence, both within and without the married state. Painters, theatricals and woman’s fashion designers had rendered self-control more difficult.
BERNARD SHAW ON FEMALE NUDITY. LONDON, Sept. 14.
Mr Bernard Shaw was a speaker at the' Sex Reform Congress. He said that the woman of the Nineteenth Century was a masterpiece of sex appeal. Women since then, however, had taken a large step towards nudity. Hence, sex appeal vanished. Bring back the clothes, he said,.and sex appeal would be increased.
