SPEED BOATS
NEW FLYING BOATS

LONDON, Sept, 12.
In response to the Air Ministry’s invitation, the Blackburn Aeroplane Company hn ! s. submitted the designs of a new type of flying boat, carrying fifty passengers on a non-stop flight of one thousand miles. It is believed that the Ministry intends, ti use such craft in London-South AfricaAustralia services,- but it is not at present known how many will be ordered. They , will be fitted with . six RollsRovce engines of three thousand horsepower.
WAS SEGRAVE A COMPETITOR! VENICE, Sept. 11.
Sir H. Seerave insists that he did not enter the speed race, with hi? boat. He only joined in it to amuse himself and to get a knowledge of the course. . The judges contend that there had been a regular entry by him.
NEARLY A RECORD. . VENICE, September 12. Sir H. Seagrave made an attempt on the motor boat record in “ Miss England.?’ The official speed was 92.8 miles hourly, three-tenths of a second outside the record. , . .
AIR SPEED RECORD. LONDON, September 12. . OrleKar to-day made another attempt to break Tuesday’s world speed record. He brilliantly completed six laps and alighted. The result is not yet known, but he exceeded Tuesday’s speed. Staint’orth in a Gloster-Napier abandoned the attempt owing to engine trouble.
RECORD UNBROKEN. LONDON, Sept. 12
Britain’s attempt to beat ner own speed records ended in disappointment. Though the times have not Veen given, 'it is believed . officially that they were not greater than on Tuesday.
