A sixty i miles an hour gaie "and a terrific sea lashed Sydney Heads this morning. Shipping was paralysed. The collier Stoekriiigton took twelve hours to cover sixty miles during the night, and she only arrived during the night. Jnsterstate steamers and coas.ers waited in the harbour for the gale to subside. .
The seas at Jervis Bay were breakin gover the cliffs and sending the -pray one hundred feet high. There was no passenger steamer to or from Newcastle last night. ' STEAMER RONALDO SAFE. (Received this day at 9.25 a.m.) SYDNEY, September 12. The steamer Ronaldo, reported missing last night, is safe, sheltering at Port Stephens. \ Two other vessels overdue are the coaster Kianga and new steamer Cobargo, on her maiden voyage to Australia. The Cobargo is two days late from Gladstone, Queensland. It is thought both vessels are sheltering. , GALE DAMAGE. SYDNEY, September 12. Newcastle experienced one of the worts gales in its history. The roof of a two storied building was carried away and crashed through the ceiling of another house. The occupants escaped. The weather in Sydney is now abating.
