Mrs MacCorrnick, a missionary at Mapoon 'iii the Gulf of Carpentaria, reached Sydney to-day. She expressed surprise that- the Federal Government had not cleared up the mystery of the strange ship which was making periodical appearances on tl:e North Australian' coast. There were various rumours’ current as to the ship’s purpose, which was generally regarded as nefarious. Once the sloop Geranium had searched the coast and reported that she had sighted an unknown craft which escaped. Later, the Protector of Aborigines at Thursday Island investigated and discovered nothing except the grave of.a Malayan, not long buried.
