The worst fighting since the commencement of the Sino-Russian rupture is reported to be proceeding a hundred miles south of Habarovsk. Already it haS lasted two days and nights. Confirmation is belated. All reports, agree that the Soviet bombing planes were extremely active and inflicted heavy damage. The railway station was demolished at Pogranichnaya. There are strong local rumours that the Russian aggression is the outcome of the alleged persecution of the Soviet internees in Manchuria.

Snipenho reports the complete destruction of the railway station by Soviet bombers, and the severance of communications and the demolition of a stationary armoured train. Twenty soldiers were killed and the inhabitants ;re be i-ig. Numero s smaller stations were bombed. The Chinese border defence force'is holding all positions.

Bth. when it was stated he was actually wounded in hand. Details are' unavailable, however. Further members of his bodyguard have been executed.
