NO COMPENSATION
•WIDOW’S CLAIM FAILS; (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, September o.' A claim for £IOOO compensation by Jessie White Hahn, widow, 'against the Fletcher. Construction Coy., on the ground that .'her husband, Theodora Hahn, had died as the result of tetanus contracted through a scratch on the hand, by a rusty nail, while employed by tlie company, was disallowed by,the Arbitration Court. Air Justice Blair said it had to be proved that ,the scratch on the hand had caused •tetanus, and that it was received in the course cf deceased’s employment. Although doctors had stated that.an old leg injury was unlikely to have caused ' the tetanus, they did not exclude the possibility that it might have done so. In view of that, it had not been established that the scratch' on the hand! had caused the tetanus. .
Judgment was given for the defendant company, with costs £lO 10s,'. witnesses’ expenses and disbursement.
