'ihe death took place on Saturday at Christchurch of Mrs Annie McTaggart, wife of Mr James McTaggart, of Christchurch, and formerly of Runanga. The late. Mrs McTaggart was before her marriage a member of the Wafer family, of Barrytown. She leaves two sons and a daughter and is also survived by her husband, four brothers, and three sisters.

Mr Si Strachan, editor of the Westport News, yesterday received cable advice of the death of his sister, Miss M. A. Strachan, of Montrose, Scotland. The deceased was the eldest daughter of the late James Strachan, designer and builder, of Montrose. She spent most of. her life in New Zealand, as a member of the teaching profession, retiring on superannuation, teaching at the schools of Taranaki and as relief teacher at Westport some 12 years ago 1 .

The Competitions are being continued at the Princess Theatre and Soldiers’ Hall to-day, and at the Theatre to-ni<?ht. commencing at 7.1-5 o’clock. The interest aroused yesterday should assure the success of the festival. Seats for the Demonstration Concert are now being booked rapidly, and if it is found that the Theatre is likely to be taxed beyond its capacity, an overflow concert will be held at 'the Soldiers’ Ha., on Thursday night, when extra seating will be provided.
