SALVATION ARMY
MARY BOOTH RESIGNS. (United Press Association.— By Electric telegraph.— Copyright.) BERLIN, September 6. Commander Mary Booth is retiring from the leadership of the Salvation Army in Germany. She will be succeeded by Commander Friedrich, a German, wlio is head of the Salvation Army in Czechoslovakia. Commander Mary Booth is returning to London, and will place herself at the disposal of headquarters. She says she may ■ resign from the Army altogether. She is prepared to work under a. General, whether he is German, English, or Japanese, but the committee form of administration is totally unsuitable ifor the Salvation Army. “ Once meddle with the military form, and you inflict n mortal blow to the organisation.” Whatever' happens, she will definitely decline to work under the Committee.
