ELECTRIC POWER

SWITCHED ON AT KOKATAHI. An event of great interest to the settlers of the Kokatahi and Koiterangi districts took place on Wednesday afternoon at the Kokatahi Co-op. Dairy Co’s Factory. After the close of the stock sale an invitation was extended to all present to witness the switching on of the electric power to the district. Mr J. Fleming, Chairman of Directors, welcomed all present ami in a brief qpoecli congratulated the settlers on- their enterprise in having the district reticulated, also thanked Mr Langford, manager of the Westland Power Co., for the prompt and courteous manner in which he had conducted his business with the Directors ; also all of liis foremen and staff for the expeditious manner in which each department had carried out their work so as to enable the factory have the power without delay. Mr White (Deputy Chairman cf Westland Power Ltd.) thanked Mr Fleming, on behalf of the Power Co. and its staff, for his congratulatory remarks and assured all present that the Power Coy. was there to give a real good and reliable service, and consumers or intending consumers had only to interview Mr Langford, who would be pleased at all times to give any information. Air White then asked Mrs J. Fleming to switch on the power and wished the Company long and continued success.

Mr T. P. O’Neil also briefly addressed the gathering and also congratulated the manager and staff of Westland Power Ltd. on their good work in having the line to the factory erected well ahead of contract time.

The ladies of the district then handed round refreshments after which the gathering dispersed.
