The Prince of Wales flew to-day from Brooklauds to Southampton, whence he. crossed to Calshot, with Squadron-Leader Orlebar, captain of the' British team. He inspected the British and Italian seaplanes, which will compete in the race for the Schneider trophy'. Al,embers of both British and Italian teams were presented to His Royal Highness, who was photographed with them. The Prince was given an indication of the speed which it is hoped the British machines will attain. TEUTONIC RACES. CLOSER RELATIONS URGED. BERLIN, Sept. 1. Admiral von Tirpitz, writing in the “Deutsche Allegeineine Zeitung” appeals for closer co-operation between Germany and the Anglo-Saxons. Germany, he says, has inany cultured relations with Britain, more with America, and other common interests. Good relations between the three Germanic states must benefit them all. INFORMATION GIVEN TO SPECULATORS. - LONDON, Sept. 4. Government circles are perturbed over an official scandal involving the dismissal of two officials of the Enemy Debt Clearing House. This follows upon the alleged leakage of information that benefited stock .share brokers, which leakage, according to the “Daily Alnjl,” has been going on for seven months, thus resulting in a loss to Britain running into six figures. The Enemy Debts Clearing House is an important branch of the Board of Trade, which is investigating its operations with the assistance of Treasury solicitors. HON J. F. ATAHONEY. HALIFAX (Nova Scotia), Sept. 3. The Hon. J. F. Mahoney, Minister of National Resources, was killed in an automobile collision.
