THOUGHTS FOR THE TIMES.
GET; ON WITH BUSINESS.’ It mus| be with rising impatience that the people of New Zealand are refining the reports of Parliamentary proceedings. We have now passed the end of August and in actual legislation the House has done almost nothing. For this the Government is partly to blame but responsibility for.waste of ' time rests with the Opposition as well, and all parties have offended by introducing trivialities into dehate. We still believe that the present House is in average capacity an improvement on the one of 1925--6, but far too often the level of debate, has been deplore- • ably low. If ,the Parliament of- 'New Zealand is to be judged by its inter-:' ie'dions Heaven help it ! Some members seem, far more keen upon digging up somebody’s past or scoring a point s with cheap wit than contributing to the conquest of the country’s difficulties. - ■ • '.lT''-
