CONFERENCE AT GREYMOUTH

GREYMOUTH, Sept. 2.

The annual conference of the Dominion Licensed Victuallers’ Association was held at Greymouth to-day, Mr J. M’Parland (Wellington) presiding over an attendance of thirty-two delegates.

The delegates present were:—Messrs R. Nash and J. Wallace (Canterbury), P. G. Griffen, T. Col tin an, C. Boyle, L. Smith, M. O’Reilly and L. Fleightholme (Wellington), P. Brodie and J. E. Griffen (Auckland), T. Moynihan and W. icirkland (Manawatu), F. Parker (South Canterbury), E l . Manly (Wanganui), F. Swinbell and J. Donne (Palmerston North), M. Roach and M. O’Brien (Southland), W. Horrocks (Nelson), F. Smith (Rangitikei), F. Keating, R. Methven and C. E. Samuels (Westport), A. Behan and J. M’Leod (Greymouth), Cheetle (Reefton), N. L. Field and, W. Keller (Hokitika), C. Chamley (Cobden), C. M’Kechnie and J. Steele (Greymouth), and Mr P. J. Coyle, chief executive officer, Wellington.

The president, in his address of welcome to the delegates, mentioned the fact that it was the first time that the conference nad been held outside of Wellington.

The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Air J. M’Parland (Wellington), re-elected; vicepresidents, Messrs P. J. Griffin (Wellington), P. Brody (Auckland), reelected; executive, Messrs J. C. Griffin (Auckland), T. Coltmnn (Wellington), B. Aislahne (Gisborne), A. Behan (West Coqst), F. J. Swindell (Palmerston North), Finlayson (Taranaki), A. Fitzgibhon (Nelson). T. Heath (Hawke’ls Bay), F. Carter (South Canterbury), R. Nash (Canterbury), M. O’Brien (Southland) and J. Young (Otago).

The conference went into committee to deal with the business, on the conclusion of which a resolution was passed expressing appreciation of the hospitality of the Greymouth branch to the visiting delegates.

Tt was decided that the next conference should take place at Palmerston North.
