HIBERNIAN SOCIETY

SMOKE CONCERT.

GREYMOUTH, September 24

The jubilee celebrations of the Greymouth Hibernian Society were last night fittingly concluded with a smoke concert at which there was an attendance of between 150 and 200 members and visitors. The chair was filled by the Vice-President of the Greymouth Society, Bro. R. Clarke, associated with whom at the head table were Rev. Father J. Long (Adnf, St. Patrick’s), Cullen, Lordan (Kumara), and McKay (Hokitika), Bros. P. Blanchfield (Greymouth), P. J. Duggan (Camara), J. Deere (Greymouth), and Randall (Greymouth), Messrs J. B. Kent (Deputy Mayor), F. H. Denton (Town Clerk) and J. Kennedy. Among those present were the following visiting delegates: Bros. P. Ryan (President, St. Patrick’s branch, Christchurch), M. Hooper (President of St. Mary’s branch, Christchurch), and H. McKeown* (Sacred Heart branch, Addington), John Batchelor (Timaru branch), M. Daly (St. Patrick’s* branch, Christchurch), O’Leary and O’Hagan (Sacred Heart branch, Wellington), M. Wall, J. Connelly (Westport branch), H. McKeown, junr, (Westport branch), Rodgers, McGuinness Coast), C. Sanders, F. Groufsky, J. P. Pickering, A. E. Griffen, J. J. Coyle, and T. Donovan 'Hokitika branch). There were also numerous representatives of Greymouth Frranlly Societies present.

A lengthy toast list was honoured, the proceedings being vgry successful.
