LONDON, Sept. 1. The press unanimously welcome home the Rt Hon P. Snowden.
The Daily Express, in its article, says: British industry demands the introduction of the “Snowdon touch.” The Chancellor lias taught the Continent a lesson, and has set Britain an example as to' - 'the great necessary things waiting to ibe done here, anil as to,doing them encumbered by such massifs of prejudice, opposition and < competing jealousies as Mr Snowden hacked through at The Hague. If the Snowden touch is present, industrialists can tackle problems with confidence CONGRATULATIONS. . LONDON, Sept. 2. Mr Philip Snowden declared that he particularly appreciated cables of congratulation sent by Premiers Bruce and Ward of Australia and New Zealand. THE “GERMAN TOUCH.” BERLIN, Sept. 1. Germany, he says, has many cultural relations with Britain, and more with America, as well ns other common interests, so that good relations between these “three Germanic States” must benefit them all. FRANCE’S CONSOLATION. > LONDON, Sept. 1. The Morning Post’s Paris correspondent says: M. Briand, Premier and Foreign Minister, made a great impression at Saturday’s Cabinet by the emphasis which he laid on the fact that there would be no evacuation, of the Rhineland till the French ancl German Parliaments ratify The Hague plan. In any case, there was a period of eight months allowed for the. evacuation, which period will, not be reckoned till the Young Plan is effectively in operation.
