GREYMOUTH, Sept. 2. The Westland Soccer eleven retained the Peter Dawson Cup on Saturday, after a fast atid exciting game with Canterbury, the visitors being defeated by three goals to one. The match took place at the Recreation Ground, and was attended by a large crowd of onlookers. The Canterbury eleven were a strong side and during the first half they displayed slightly better combination than their opponents. The game, however, was fairly even throughout, and the spectators were provided with a fine exhibition of the code.
