A DOMESTIC QUARREL

Three brothers, Stephen, George and Robert McNamara, received razor slashes in an affray in a bedroom of' a house at Ramsgate, The attack was the sequel to'a domestic quarrel. The. brothers went to the assistance of their sister, who was ■ struggling . with .her husband, and were attacked. [ Later, George Cahill was charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm. As each man wrestled with the husband, for possession of the raapr he received cuts about the body,' face and arms. Eventually a paaser-by over-' powered the husband. > ■ PEARSON GETS OFF. WIFE’S REFUSAL TO GIVE EVIDENCE. SYDNEY, August 30. The Pearson poisoning onse- (cabled on August 23), was again before the Court to-day. The Police Prosecutor stated that he had 110 evidence to offer, and as Pearson’s • wife would not give evi-. dance, there was no use in proceeding further. 1 * ’ ' Pearson was thereupon discharged: LIVELY DEBATE.. ’ IN FEDERAL HOUSE. CANBERRA, August 31. An electrical atmosphere prevailed' in the House of Representatives during the arbitration debate. Labour members shouted defiance during Mr Parkhill’s attempt to justify the Government policy. Mr Mann, opposing the bill, made a slashing attack on Mr Bruce, before packed benches. FISHING TRAGEDY. SYDNEY, August 3L 1 A tragedy attended a fishing expedition at Botany B>ay. Three fishermen were hurled into the water when the boat struck a sandbank. George Baker, aged 53, wlio was unable to swim, was drowned. Two companions reached shore exhausted after a. two miles swim through rough water. One had supported Baker for an hour, but the latter struggled free and disappeared. '
