Mr Lnmont has appointed Mr Myron L. Black, of Rochester, New York, as Assistant Trade i Commissioner at Wellington, New Zealand. Mr Black was formerly connected with the New York office of the Commerce Department.

STATEMENT BY MR THOMAS
(Received this dav at noon.) VANCOUVER, August 23
‘ The British Government is ready to hold an Economic Conference in Canada with the dominion,” Mr J. H. Thomas announced to-day in the course of an address to the Canadian Club at Montreal. He stated he had consulted members of the Canadian Government and had made definite proposals, but added- that the first of such matters should be discussed in Parliament.
