Primary Pro? ducer's called byUjNeiv. .Zealand Farmers’ Union was held, at the Farmers Institute to-day to consider the taxation proposals, of the Government. Mr Poison (President) was in the chair and thanked those present, about seventy, for attending at such short notice.; Mr Poison denied that he had spoken in the House as representing the Farm ers’ Union. He had spoken as representing his constituents, and also expressed his ownk opinions. Mr Poison went on to outline the taxation proposals and intimated that no man should be taxed on his debts. The conference, in committee, discussed the question of inviting Sir Joseph Ward to lie present. It was decided not to do so, but to, ask him to receive a deputation in the afternoon. •. The Conference went on to discuss in detail how the proposed taxation would affect individual farmers.
