Canterbury-Auckland match on August 31st, was entered at a jmeeting of the Auckland Rugby Referees’ Association this evening! It was taken as an affront to the Auckland referees, and a member characterised the request as an action by the N. Z. Union to hold the pistol to the heads of the Auckland referees. There was a feeling that the Auckland Management Committee had not supported the referees, and ! 'a deputation was appointed to bring a resolution before the Committee protesting against any action debarring the Auckland referees from representative -matches, and explaining an intention to reconsider tlie decision to abide by the Auckland rules if support was not forthcoming. , -
