FOOTBALL,

The Seven-asiile Tournament which took place on the Recreation Ground on Saturday drew a very good • attendance despite - the inclemency of the weather. Most of the games were interesting although necessary slower than they would have been if the* day had been fine;

Several of the teams were late in arriving and a start was not made till' 1.50 p.m. but once started there was no delay and the final game concluded at 5.30. v :

The Cobden team prove'd to be ‘the winners. It was a popular win, the general opinion being that the best team won.

At the conclusion of the game Rev'. E. Osmers on behalf of the citizens of Ross presented the cup to the winners, heartily congratulating them on their win. He was satisfied they had proved themselves the best players that day. He, hoped there would be good competition for the cup again next year, when he could assure them the other teams would do 'their best to take it from them.

A handsome gold medal was also presented to each of the seven players comprising the winning team. The Cobden captain accepted the cup oA'’'behalf of his Club and tendered Ins sincere thanks to the Ross people for their kindness in presenting the cup and medals. By doing so, they were fostering the Rugby code, which lie considered the king of football games. The following are the results FIRST ROUND.
