MARITIME INDUSTRY
A SENSIBLE ATTITUDE
CAuistralian Press Association)
(Received this day at 9.25 a.m.) SYDNEY, August 16.
The fact that the maritime industry - is to remain in control of the Commonwealth Government, promoted representatives of the Unions concerned to formulate a plan by which industrial matters can in future be handled amicably. The Unions agreed on a scheme embracing Councils covering sectional interests, each of which consists of three representatives of employers and three employees, with an independent Chairman, appointed by the Council or by the Governor-General. This plan has been submitted to the Commonwealth Government.
