THURSDAY, AUG. 15th. (Before W. Meldrum, Esq., S.M.) LICENSING ACT The police oharged various residents with being illegally on licensed premises after hours and decisions were recorded as follows: Six persons (Dominion Hotel). Four were ordered to pay costs 10s each and two fined 20s and 10s costs each. Two persons (Commercial Hotel). Ordered to pay costs 10s each. One person (Dunedin Hotel). Fined 40s and costs 10s. Three persons (Central Hotel) pleaded not guilty on the plea that they were the guests of boarders for the evening. Explanations accepted and charges dismissed. The police charged E. T. Cooke, licensee of the Dominion Hotel, with selling liquor after hours and opening premises for sale of liquor after hours. Mr Murdoch for defendant pleaded guilty to the first charge, Sergt. King 'withdrawing the second charge. Fined 40s and costs 10s. WANDERING CATTLE. W. E. Gaylor, Borough Inspector (Mr Park) v. E. Cameron, a charge of allowing a cow to wander. Fined 5s and costs 10s, solicitor £1 Is. Same v. B. A. 1 horse. Fined 5s and costs 10s, solicitor £1 Is. CYCLING WITHOUT LIGHT P. Souter, on a charge of cycling at night without a light was convicted and fined 10s and costs 10s, solicitor Is. MAINTENANCE. A. J. Dunn (Mr Sellers) v. Thos Dunn, application for maintenance. Order made for payment of £1 per week, solicitor’s costs £3 3s Od by the son. W. I. Stewart (Mr Murdoch) v. I]. Stewart (Westport) failure to pay maintenance order £7 10s Od. Convicted and sentenced to 14 days, warrant to be suspended on payment of £7 10s and solicitors fee £1 Is; seven days being allowed. • In another maintenance case payment of arrears had been paid in that morning. Convicted and ordered to pay solicitor’s costs £1 Is. DEBT CASES. J. J. Morgan (Mr Elcoek) v. B. Marks,' claim £B;6s 9d. Judgment for plaintiff with costs 30s 6d. Ohas Wqojhouse (Mr Elepck) v. Jos Ryan, claim £l2 14s 3d. Judgment for plaintiff with costs £2 14s.
