DENTAL CLINIC OPENED
SCHOOL DENTAL WORK IN DOMINION. (B.v Telegraph—Press Association). ’ LEVIN, Aug. 15. The State dental clinic in Levin was yesterday officially opened by the Minister of Health (Hon A. J. Stallworthy) who in the course of his remarks said there were ninety clinics operating with 55 sub-bases, 6;0 schools and 53,500 children being under treatment. Seventeen new clinics bad been established this year. The work accomplished last year . included 146,354 nllings, 76,555 extracts and 99,;01 other operations. Mention was made by other speakers of the fact that Levin pioneered the war in tbe Dominion by establishing a school dental system in 1919 two years before. State clinics were operating. This was the scheme devised by D. S. Mackenzie, local dentist, under which lie and other practitioners attended to children for the nominal fee of £1 per annum. This service is still operating in the district.
