In spite of showery weather, about four thousand gathered to witness the final appearance of the Australian hockey team before their departure from the Dominion, the match being a test between New Zealand and Australia. Large parts of the ground were covered with slush, which became worse as the play proceeded, and as a display of the game the match was disappointing. New Zealand won by twr goals 1 to nil, and thus retains the Manning Cup, which it has held since •it was 1 first awarded in 1923. Eric Watts scored as the result of a fine solo, effort ’in the first spell. Anthony seorfed thei second goal with a sharp shot' iirv-itlie second spell.
