IN CENTRAL AUSTRALIA
RAILWAY REACHES ALICE SPRINGS. (Australian Press Association) ADELAIDE, August 9. The first passenger and goods train to penetrate, into Central Australia, terminating at Alice Springs, travelled yesterday.
This event marks Rail important step in the development of the great unknown Central portion of the Australian continent.
The Residont Officer, Mr C. ,A. Wood,.,made the -tatement on the occasion at Alice Springs, that vast,, mineral wealth lies hidden ini the ranges in the vicinity of the railhead. Mr Woods forecasts the district will become..-another Coolgardio.
