FOREST FIRES. WIDESPREAD DEVASTATION. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). NEW YORK, Aug. 7. Damage amounting to millions of dollars, and the destruction of hundreds of thousands of acres of valuable forests in five states, lias occurred as the result of fires due to the unprecedented drought. Oklahoma, California, Washington, Montan aand Idaho are the heaviest sufferers, with many fires reported in the timber areas within their boundaries. Thousands of men are fighting the fires continually.
