Sir James Parr and Mr Larkin have arrived to assist, the British delegation in a consultative capacity in New Zealand and Canadian interests. The Young Plan Conference opened with an atmosphere charged with goodwill, despite the knowledge that long and perhaps hitter discussions must precede an agreement. Dr Stresemann succeeded M. Briand in expressing wishes for a step toward a durable peace, the improvement of the economic condition of Europe, and a broader understanding among ex-bel-ligerents. Dr Stresemann, significantly turning towards M. Briand remarked that a leader should not wait till ninety-nine per cent df his countrymen .were behind him. He should go in advance and carry them with him.
Van Blokland presided. Sir .T. Parr is opposite the French and British.
