WEST COAST RUGBY UNION.

The weekly meeting was held lastevening at Greymouth. It was resolved to draw the Westland Sub-Union’s attention to the fact that a member of the Excelsior team left the field last Saturday in their match versus Stars, before the game ended, and without the permission oL the referee, which is contrary to the rules of the Union. An explanation is to be asked for.

It was also resolved to draw the Sub-Union’s attention to the matter ,of teams arriving on the field of play late, pointing out that the. Kiwi team were, thirty minutes late last Saturday, which is not in the interest of the' game, only ten minutes’ grace -being, allowed teams to turn but. v Canterbury Rugby Union wrote offering to play the Coast reps at Greymouth on Wednesday, lltli Septgmber, and it was resolved to accept piis date.

The Secretary was instructed to supply the Canterbury Union with all information regarding transport df team to Westport.

Marlborough Union wrpte expressing regret at the recent accident which befei the Coast reps, on their return from Nelson,, and wishing Mr Adams. (President) a speedy recovery from jtiis injury. .The letter was received. Accounts amouriting to £6 13s were .passed for payment.

' The President, Mr Adams, submitted a financial statement on the recent Seddon Shield match at Nelson, and it was disclosed that despite the extra heavy expense in transport a substantial’ credit balance was the outcome of the tour. The report was enthusiastically received by delegates. It was pointed out that several clubs have still failed to send in their affiliation fee, and it was decided that delegates move in the matter, and have same. attended to at once. It was decided to issue a challenge to the Westland Sub-Union for the Pittman Shield on 14th September at Hokitika;. arid., if the. . challenge- -is .accepted,' that the selector be; instructed to select the team a fortnight beforehand.

After - considerable- discussion it jivas decided to close the senior competition, and to declare Excelsiors (Hokitika) this year’s winners of the McKechnie Cup.

it was, further decided to institute a one-round senior competition commencing next Saturday.

It was resolved that the one round competition fixtures, as drawn, be accepted, ground to be allotted by the fixtures committee as the season goes on.

Seniors: Blaketown v. United, A. ground, Park, at 3 p.m. (Mr W. Prin<U; Stars v. Brunner, B ground, Park, at 3 p.m. (Mr A. Jamieson).
