OUTBREAK IN WELLINGTON 'THEATRE.
WELLINGTON, August 3
The Fire Brigade was called last night to the Artcratft Theatre, Molesworth Street, where some film caught alight. The fire was confined to the operating box, the wiring of which and the projecting machinery were slight damaged. About 2000 feet of film was destroyed as the result of the fire. The programme was notjcontinued. . RAID ON GAMING HOUSE. WOMAN ARRESTED. '• ’ WELLINGTON, August 3. The police to-day arrested Catherine J ones, 42, on a charge of using her shop in Molesworth Street as a:common gaming house. It was described as another case of a catspaw being caught, i A fine of £25 was imposed. . ROADSIDE TRAGEDY. CHILD’S FATAL INJURIES. August 3' As the 1 result ‘of injuries received* when knocked down by a motor lorry at Okaiawa, on Wednesday afternoon, Madeline Mack, the six-year-old daughter of Mr and Mrs A. J. Mack, Okaiawa Hotel,idled in the HaWera Hospital on Saturday morning. ’ The child, 'bad been playing with a group of,, ‘children on the side of the roadway in the middle of the township and ran out suddenly towards the middle of the road and collided with a lorry which is reported to have been moving slowly. '
