ENGLISH CRICKET TOUR. DUNEDIN, August 1
When New Zealand Cricket Council’s letter offering a match to Otago against the English team for a guarantee of £375 came before Otago Association, the opinion was expressed that the Council was asking too much. One speaker remarked that the New Zealand Council had .undertaken , a big risk. Tlie English Association should finance its own team on the tours of New Zealand. The Secretary stated Otago would have to take a £6OO gate to cover the expenses, while the biggest gate ever taken was £450. It was decided to reply that was considering the matter. A suggestion was made that citizens bo asked to make a guarantee towards the team’s visit to Dunedin.

Obituary—Suddenly this morning, Sydney Edward Gregory, aged 50, the famous Australian cricketer. He was a celebrated fieldsman at cover point.
