Workmen laying gas pipes in Barstaas.se, West Berlin, turned u.p a number of tear gas containers, and were affected by the fumes. Firemen wearing gas masks, removed the unexploded containers, which formed part of the surplus stock of a chemical factory It is estimated that a hundred thousand eight inch containers were buried in the vicinity. The authorites point out that the effect of the gas are not serious if inhaled in only small quantities.
