DEPUTATION TO MINISTER
WELLINGTON, July 31. Replying to an hotel woi'Aors’ deputation, Hon W. Yeitch (Labour Minister) emhatically stated he would not help any movement having for its object the abolition of the Arbitration Court. He admitted that improvements in the constitution of the Court might he desirable. We know that a strong effort is going to be made to abolish the Court, and I want to see the Arbitration Court retained if I possibly can. The deputation preferred quite a number of requests.
'I he Minister said the question of forming -Dominion Unions was one that involved a very big principle, and lie was not at all sure they should alter the law in that regard. However, lie was quite willing to go thoroughly into the m.-.tter. He would also go into the question of citation of parties. He was prepared to reopen Hie matter of a full day off, remar.in that the request on the face of it, appeared a reasonable one.
In regard to females being employed fter 10.30 p.m., the Minister said that n’ess there was a s'rong case against ; he would have the matter fixed up.
