WEST COAST RUGBY UNION. The weekly mooting was held at Greymouth last evening. In regard to a letter received from the Hokitika Union as to rules for the Newman Shield competition, it was decided to reply that all matches be played under existing Shield rules, and that the Grey delegate, Mr F. Wilson, would call a conference on the day of the final match. It was decided that letters be sent to Messrs Lurking and Partridge, headmasters of jh e Greymouth and Hokitika State Schools respectively, pointing out the inconvenience caused to the referee, Mr Alolvor, and also asking for an explanation as to why the Union had not been notified as to the postponement of the Newman Shield match last Saturday. Also asking that in future notification he given to the Union of postponements. It was also decided that Air Mclvor he written to expressing the Union’s regret as to the inconvenience caused him by the postponement and that the Union would make good any expense incurred by him. In reference to a letter from the Hokitika Sub-Union asking the Union to reconsider its decision as to its refusal to allow AVcstport Old Boys to •day Excelsiors on-August 10th, it was decided that the matter he left in the hands of the President, Secretary, and Mr Clarke, with power to act, and that, Westport be advised accordingly It was decided that Hokitika lm written to asking them to forward the Dittman Shield to have any damages <o it repaired. The manager of the- Greymouth T ! 'earn, which travelled to Hokitika Inst 'Saturday, reported that some of the nemhers who had been picked had not Mimed up, and with the result tbs' mlv a bare fifteen made the trip. D general, none of the absentees ha* notified the Union in time to replace 'bom. A similar state of affairs wir reported in regard to the Grey C team which travelled to Ikamatua. It was decided that the players in question be written to asking for an explanation ns to their 'failure to make the trips, and not giving sufficient notification as to their defections. The acting-chairman, commenting on the Seddon Shield tour, gave a short outline of the tour and stated that .Mr Adams, the President, who was unfortunately unable to he present owing t.o an accident on the return trip, would present a full report on the tour when was able to resume his. position on the Union. Afagoie Club were given permission l o withdraw their senior team from L li(i competition, and that members of the team he entitled to play for any senior teamrthey chooser —•-- FIXTURES.
