BOY KNOCKED DOWN

AUCKLAND, July 26
As the result of being accidentally rim down by a motor truck in the Point' Chevalier road this afternoon, Colin Lang,' aged 10, received grave injury, believed to be a fracture of the skull.
The patient was reported to be in a serious condition to-night. The boy had been playing football and, in company with other hoys, was proceeding home about 4.10 a.m. On reaching the main road he gave chase to a ball which rolled through a fence into the street. He was instantly knocked down by the motor lorry. The vehicle swerved violently across the road in a vain effort to avoid the boy, and striking the rough portion of the road between two strips of concrete, turned over on its side. The driver escaped injury, iming was dragged several yards by the vehicle before it •capsized, and was rendered unconscious. He was conveyed to the hospital in a postal van which hapepned to be passing.
