POWER BOARDS
RATES FOR CURRENT. (By Tel eg rapt)—Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, July 25 Agreement with the principle that all Power Board); should pay the same rate for supplies of current, was expressed by Sir .Joseph Ward replying to a deputation representing Wuitemata and Franklin Power Boards. The request of the Boards' that they represented was that they should receive the five per cent, discount at present enjoyed' hv Central Thames Valley and Cambridge Boards. Sir -Joseph Ward said he would obtain from the Minister of Public Works a return showing the effect of the discount, if applied to all Boards in tlie Dominion. He agreed that all Boards should he uniformly charged, and would go in’.o the matter with a view to bringing that about if possible. As far as lie could judge there was no reason why there shou.d he any discrimination.
Mr Ransom explained to the deputation that since he had been in office he had not signed any contracts giving preferential treatment to any Boards, and he did not intend to do so. -Special concessions had been given, but it was never intended they should be permanent. He agreed that all Boards should he placed 'on an equal/footing in the matter of charges. Mr Coates pointed out that certain' -Boards had been granted a rebate, butthere had been a general understanding that when contracts were renewed tftey would be renewed on the sapie term's as the Waitemata and Franklin Boards.
