AIR EXHIBITION
RECORD AEROPLANE SHOW. ' (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). LONDON, July 16. The Prince of Wales opened the greatest aeroplane show in the world’s history at Olympia. There are representative exhibits from every air power in the world, from the “ baby ’’ private machine to giant triplanes engined as land and water machines. THREATENED WITH FAILURE OWING TO POOR ATTENDANCE (Received this dav at 9. a.m.) LONDON, July 19. Failure threatens the Air Exhibition owing to amazing public indifference. The daily attendance lias not averaged five thousand. An American authority told a “Herald” correspondent that a similar show would arouse the wildest enthusiasm in United States. Foreigners express the opinion that the exhibition is far ahead of European displays. The press representatives wandered through almost deserted aisles of the Olympiad with disappointed, brokenhearted exhibitors. The organiser told tbe “Daily News” that Lord Thompson sharply criticised the shameful neglect of a unique collection valued at hundreds of thousands sterling. Foreigners most interested in aviation must, get a strange impression of our inadaptibility to new developments of transportation.
